The Secrets of Rocket City | Extra long Episode

Huntsville, Alabama, also known as "Rocket City", is the home of the "Rocket City Rednecks", a group of real redneck geniuses who apply hillbilly knowledge to big questions of science, technology and engineering. Travis Taylor, the leader of the Rocket City Rednecks, holds a PhD in mechanical engineering and has top secret security clearance from the US government. Apart from being a typical Southern city, Huntsville is also home to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, where NASA began in the 1950s. Whenever NASA, the Department of Defence or the private sector need someone to solve a major scientific problem, Travis is their man. He is surrounded by a group of provincial Einsteins, such as Rog, a guy with an IQ of 160; Pete, an optics scientist who develops satellites at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center; and Travis' father Charles, one of NASA's first engineers. ---- This channel offers you full episodes of high quality documentaries. Neptun: The secrets of a planet | space and astronomy

Neptune is slightly smaller than Uranus, but still a giant in relation to Earth. It orbits the sun at a distance of four and a half billion kilometres! For one orbit, i.e. one Neptune year, it takes an incredible 165 Earth years! That is much longer than a human life. So it moves very slowly across our sky and often stays in the same constellation for years. Only in 2011 will it be found again in the place in the sky where it was discovered in 1846. Neptune, like the other gas planets, consists mainly of hydrogen and helium and some methane. Methane gives it its pretty blue color. Inside it has a solid iron core the size of the Earth. Because of the large distance to the sun it doesn't get much of its warming rays. Neptune is one of the coldest places in the solar system. Its outside temperature is about -200° Celsius! #neptun #discoveringspace #nasa ---- This channel offers you full episodes of high quality documentaries. Uranus: The secrets of the planet | space and astronomy

Uranus is the third largest planet in the solar system and a huge ball of gas. 64 terrestrial spheres would fit inside it. It is very far away from us, twice as far as Saturn! Uranus moves around the sun at a distance of about 2.8 billion kilometres! Therefore, it takes 84 years until it completes one complete orbit, thus completing one Uranus year. Uranus consists mainly of the gases hydrogen, helium and methane. The methane gives it its bluish colour. There is probably a solid iron core in its interior. The Earth is not a perfect sphere either, but the difference between the equatorial and polar diameters is minimal compared to that of gaseous planets. Uranus moves far away from the earth around the sun. It is not a conspicuous object in the sky. Basically, you can only find it if you know exactly where to look. It looks like a pale and inconspicuous star. #uranus #discoveringspace #nasa ---- This channel offers you full episodes of high quality documentaries. Mars: myth or reality? Pt.2 | space and astronomy

This is the second part of our exciting Mars special. Immerse yourself in the interesting world of the planet Mars. Mars counted from the Sun, is the fourth planet in the solar system and the Earth's outer neighbour. It is one of the Earth-like planets. Its diameter of just under 6800 kilometres is about half as large as that of Earth, and its volume is a good seventh of the Earth's volume. This makes Mars the second smallest planet in the solar system after Mercury, but it has a diverse geology and the highest volcanoes in the solar system. With an average distance of 228 million kilometres, it is about 1.5 times as far away from the Sun as the Earth. In this documentary you will see the most beautiful facets of the planet Mars. ---- This channel offers you full episodes of high quality documentaries. Fascination Aliens: Truth or Vision? | Special Episode

Is there life outside the earth? Mankind has been asking these questions for centuries. But how would we react to first contact with aliens? Do they swim under the ice of Jupiter's moon Europa? Do they race through space in spaceships? Star astronomers from all over the world have been discussing where alien organisms could be - and how we could find them. "This question is currently dividing the research community," said the US space agency Nasa and Michigan Technological University, which organized the debate. ---- This channel offers you full episodes of high quality documentaries. Fascination of the Universe: Cosmic Encounters

“Cosmic Encounters” tells one of mankind’s oldest dreams: to explore what is beyond our planet. For the first time a documentary has been filmed in 3D in space by the astronauts of the International Space Station. It is a tribute to the many scientists who made the dream of conquering space come true. Our guides on this voyage are the astronauts André Kuipers, who filmed on board, and Alexander Gerst, whose demanding training for the 2014 mission is recorded at the Johnson Space Center. ---- This channel offers you full episodes of high quality documentaries. Scientific Revolution: The Age Of The Cyborg | Full Documentary

Scientists are close to a revolution: the seamless integration of man and machine through neurochips implanted directly into the brain. Their aim is to improve our performance and correct malfunctions. Today we already have electronic retinas and hearing implants; and tomorrow? The film presents the leading scientists in this domain and explains the function and potential uses of this technology. The Origin Of Life: Studying Meteorites | space and astronomy

What are the origins of life? Earth’s latest visitor could provide answers about the origin of life and the beginning of our solar system. 25th of September 2009: In Ontario, Canada, scientists aim cameras, radars and special microphones at the starry night sky. Their goal: to follow the fall of a meteorite from its entry into the atmosphere to its impact for the first time and then to recover the extraterrestrial material. The researchers hope to use the samples thus obtained to learn more about the early history of the solar system. But will the elaborate search for the meteorite succeed as planned? Ontario, Canada. On a clear Friday night, a flaming fireball lights up the sky as it streaks to Earth. It could carry with it secrets about the origin of life and our Solar System or evidence of life on other planets. But in order to study it, scientists first need to find it. At the University of Western Ontario, planetary scientists capture the entire event using special video cameras, radar and sound measuring technologies. Now, the race is on, but will they be able to find Earth’s latest visitor? ---- This channel space and astronomy offers you full episodes of high quality documentaries.
